Work in the Field

Registered Nurses / Nurse Practitioners

As a nurse working for MSF your training and supervisory skills will be put to the test. You may be asked to take part in organizing a mass vaccination initiative for measles or triaging an influx of displaced people fleeing conflict. You may run a program to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV or be called upon to initiate a training program for local medical staff.

"We are looking for people who aren't afraid of everything changing from one day to the next."

- Laura Cobey, RN

Louise Fang

Role: Operating Room Nurse
Hometown: Seattle, Washington
MSF Assignments: Nigeria, South Sudan

"You are put into that position and you have to learn quickly. I started out just treating everybody as I wanted people to treat me, putting myself in the other people’s shoes, and trying to mediate the conflicts they might have."
