An MSF driver was injured and two MSF staff were abducted in Dadaab, Kenya, during an incident on October 13. A crisis team has been set up to find a rapid and safe resolution.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) confirms that an MSF team suffered an incident in Dadaab, Kenya, on the morning of October 13. One driver was injured during the incident; he's currently hospitalized and stable. Two international staff, both Spanish, were abducted. As yet, MSF has not been able to re-establish contact with the two staff. A crisis team has been set up to deal with this incident, and the families have been informed.
"We strongly condemn this attack," says José Antonio Bastos, the president of MSF-Spain. "MSF is in contact with all the relevant authorities and is doing all it can to ensure the swift and safe return of our colleagues. Meanwhile, our thoughts are with them and with their families in this difficult time."
In order to ensure a rapid and safe resolution of the incident, MSF will not provide any further information for the moment.
